PHILLIPS – Alice J. Moore, 92, of Phillips, passed away Thursday, May 8, at the home of her daughter.
She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Hyde Park, Mass., the daughter of John D. and Alice F. (Norris) Robertson.
Alice attended school in Hyde Park, moving to Hopedale, Mass., in 1932, and graduating in 1935 from Hopedale High School. She attended Framingham Business College, graduating in 1936.
She held various jobs over the years. One was at the Bancroft Estate in Hopedale, where she met Gilbert Moore. They married on Jan. 10, 1939, and were married for 52 years when Gilbert died in April 1992.
Alice and her family lived in Rangeley and Phillips in the late 1950s, and Phillips is where she and her husband retired to in 1974. Alice enjoyed her family and visiting with her friends. She also enjoyed volunteer work and had just received an award for the work she did at Togus Veterans’ Hospital in Augusta as a visiting volunteer for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
She was a member of the UCC in Phillips where she served as clerk. She also liked to bake to share with her friends around town.
Alice is survived by her son, Gilbert “Skip” Moore and his wife, Karen, of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; a daughter, Elaine Morgan of Phillips; grandsons, Scott Moore and his wife, Jennifer, of Beaverton, Ore., Russell Morgan and his wife, Angel, of Strong, and Blaine Morgan of Portsmouth, Va.; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Richard C. Knox of Peru.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; five brothers; four sisters; her son-in-law, Dennis P. Morgan; and a grandson, Philip L. Morgan.
