POLAND – The 11th annual Jim Giasson Invitational Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, June 14 at Fairlawn Golf Course. Organizers have announced that this will be the final year of the tournament and last chance for players to hit the links with family and friends and support local scholarships in honor of Giasson.

As has been the tradition of the tournament since its inception, a portion of the money raised is used to offset the education costs of Giasson’s children. Over the past six years, the success of the tournament also has supported the addition of multiple scholarships to local graduating high school seniors.

The great turnout last year allowed for two scholarships that were presented to Lauren Doiron of Leavitt Area High School, who is attending the University of Maine at Farmington, and Laura Gardner of Edward Little, attending the University of Vermont.

Planning for the tournament is underway, and the board is accepting applications for this year’s three $500 scholarships. If you would like to play as a team or to sponsor a hole at this year’s tournament, contact Rob Schulz at 831-1902.
