Auburn Public Library to serve tea, fashions

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library will celebrate spring with style starting at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 29, with the third annual English Tea and Style Show in the library’s Androscoggin Community Room.

An annual fundraising event, the English Tea and Style Show will feature hats and accessories for the well dressed woman. Those in attendance will have an English Tea featuring finger sandwiches, cakes and sweets, and a variety of teas.

Annual Fund Committee member Barbara Randall will provide commentary. Models for the show will include Tonie Ramsey, Ellie Cummings, Laurie Steele, Liz Henry, Belle Henry, Nicole Rogers, Rosemary Waltos, Sylvie Martin and Claire Amero.

The English Tea raffle is under way, featuring a basket and a handcrafted full-length afghan. The basket features a set of four porcelain tea cups and matching tea pot, vase, candles, garden picture, food and lavender wreath contained in an antique reproduction trunk. It is valued at approximately $200.

Tickets in advance for the tea and show are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and are available at the library circulation desk. Tickets at the door are $12.

Serving on the English Tea Committee are Tonie Ramsey, Ellie Cummings, Mary McMahon, Barbara Randall and Beverly Heath.
