PARIS – The Oxford Hills Distributive Education Classes of America Chapter has announced that it was awarded the Diamond Level Award for its membership campaign, which is the highest level of international competition.
To achieve the award the chapter completed a series of promotional activities during the first two months of school, then submitted a paper and pictures to National DECA to show the activities it had hosted.
A big part of their project was hosting National DECA Week. To prepare for the week students planned events for the entire school to participate in each day of the week, which included scavenger hunts, blue and gold day and sticker day. Events also included community service in the form of a Miracle Minute to benefit the Make-A-Wish of Maine Foundation.
The award was presented at DECA’s International Career Development Conference, where former state officers, Laura Courcy, Madeline Littlefield and Kristianna Springer appeared on stage during the opening ceremonies to accept the award on behalf of the chapter.
In addition to the Diamond Level Award, Kari Pelletier and Monica Martin received competency awards for their Learn and Earn written project on the DECA holiday craft fair. Seventeen students from Oxford Hills Technical School’s DECA chapter attended the International Career Development Conference from April 25 to 30 in Atlanta.
