Relay fundraiser does outstanding job

AUBURN – The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Androscoggin County has announced outstanding fundraising efforts by a member of the Lewiston/Auburn community.

Carla Albert of Sabattus, a breast cancer survivor and member of the Wal-Mart Supercenter Relay For Life team, raised more than $2,000 by asking family, friends and coworkers for donations to benefit the relay.

Relay For Life allows participants from all walks of life – including patients, medical support staff, corporations, civic and other organizations, and community volunteers – to celebrate, remember and join together in the fight against cancer.

Relay For Life is a team event where participants walk around a track relay-style overnight. Teams will gather at Edward Little High School on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, officially kicking-off at 6 p.m. Friday.

To join the Relay of Androscoggin as a volunteer or team participant, contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or online at www.cancer.org, www.relayforlife.org, or event chairwoman Jennifer Gendron at 689-2919.
