AUBURN – The father-son tandem of David and Dave Ricker notched a pair of big hits to boost the Winthrop Red Sox to a 12-5 win over the Auburn White Sox in a Tuesday night Maine Senior Baseball League clash under the lights at Auburn Suburban.

The elder Ricker drove in two runs in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox ahead 4-1.

Not to be outdone, Dave Jr. ripped a bases-loaded single to center, plating two to cap a 5-run seventh.

Auburn jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Marc Gosselin, but the Red Sox answered back with a run in the third and three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good.

Rich Ozment doubled in a run in the seventh for Winthrop. After a walk and a base hit to load the bases, Ricker had the key stroke of the inning. He finished with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Other repeat hitters for Winthrop were Mike House, Brett Witherell, and Bob Cochran.

Tom Bourdon led Auburn with a double and a single. Gosselin also added two hits. Torey Carr picked up the win on the mound for Winthrop.
