LEWISTON – Marcel and Theresa Moore of Lewiston recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a gathering at the Elks Lodge in Lewiston. The children of the couple were hosts for the event.

The couple renewed their vows, with the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf from Holy Cross officiating. The couple has belonged to the church for more than 50 years.

Tables were decorated white, silver and pink with rose petals and candlelight arranged by their daughter, Theresa Pare and Alex Mann, grandson. A son-in-law, Tony Pare, was toastmaster and Courtney and Brigitte Pare had charge of the guest book.

Pink roses were on the anniversary cake and a special bouquet with pink roses was designed and made by their daughter, France Mann. A buffet was served and a breakfast brunch was served the next morning.

Mr. Moore and the former Theresa Soucy were married Nov. 11, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church in Concord, N.H. Their children are Dennis, Philip, David, France and Theresa. Their grandchildren are Matthew, Courtney and Brigitte Pare, Jessica Bean, Michelle Moore and Alex Mann. Their step-grandsons are the Rev. Daniel Goulet and Thomas Goulet.

Mrs. Moore is a life member of the Ladies of Holy Cross and also St. Mary’s Hospital Ladies Association. She is also a member of the Elks. She keeps busy bowling, golfing and playing cards with her friends weekly, for the last 17 years.

Mr. Moore was owner of Marcel Motors for 25 years, where his slogan was “We speak English, nous parlons Francais, but best of all, we talk turkey,” which is still remembered to this day. He is also a life member of the VFW, Elks Lodge and Fourth Degree Council, Knights of Columbus. He is a World War II Army veteran, and is a member of Martindale Country Club. They have been owners of Moore Self Store for the last 21 years.

Original wedding attendants present were Jeanette Soucy Wallace and Raymond Soucy, both of Concord, N.H., and Jeanine Moore Hatch of Meriden, Conn.

Guests came from Canada, Florida, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
