DURHAM – Michael and Tina Burnham of Winthrop are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Melissa (Mel) Burnham of Durham, to Steven Barter of Durham, son of Donald and Deborah Barter of Lisbon Falls.

Miss Burnham is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in secondary education. She is currently teaching eighth-grade English in Auburn.

Mr. Barter is a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in music education. He is currently teaching kindergarten through grade-six general music in Lewiston.

A summer wedding is planned at Sunday River.
