AUGUSTA – The Kennebec Land Trust is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Field trips are planned as follows:
Saturday, May 31, 6 to 8 a.m., spring bird walk, Webber-Rogers Farmstead Conservation Area, Litchfield, with Ron Joseph, USFWS; Paul Johnson, KLT steward; and George and Judy Rogers, KLT easement donors.
Bring binoculars for a walk on the farmstead shoreline trail along Upper Pleasant Pond. Preregistration is necessary; call the KLT office at 377-2848. Limited to 20.
Saturday, June 14, 9 to 11 a.m., Mt. Pisgah Family Hike, Winthrop, with Jim Connors, KLT steward. Learn about the natural and cultural history of Mt. Pisgah. The Mt. Pisgah Fire Tower, a local landmark, offers views of surrounding lakes and towns. Round trip hike is two miles. Meet at the fire tower parking lot on Mt. Pisgah Road. Rain date is Sunday, June 15.
Saturday, June 14, KLT table, Spring Running Riverfront Festival, Augusta. The festival celebrates and promotes the historic, cultural and economic connections of Augusta to the spring herring run and the Kennebec River. For more information, see http://www.springrunning.com/. Rain date is June 15.
