Indoor yard sale

LIVERMORE FALLS – Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church will hold its annual indoor yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24. There will be the usual items found at a yard sale as well as plants and food.

Funds raised from the sale will go to mission projects. The church is located on the corner of Church and Knapp streets. Entry to the sale will be on the Knapp Street side.

Rummage sale

INDUSTRY – A plant sale and rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Industry Town Hall. Proceeds from the plant sale will benefit Sparrows Song

baked bean and casserole supper will be held at 5 p.m. The menu will include salads, breads, beverages and desserts. Cost is adults, $6; children under 12, $3.

Rummage sale and supper proceeds will benefit United in Christ Presbyterian Church.

Seeks donations

FARMINGTON – The Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association is looking for donations for its annual yard and plant sale on Saturday, June 7.

All proceeds will go toward the building, which still needs some flooring, ceiling and kitchen appliances. For more information, call 778-4272.

DAR meeting

WILTON – Colonial Daughters Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at noon Tuesday, May 27, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Members are being asked to bring a sandwich; desserts and drinks will be furnished by the hostesses. Connie Hiltz, past regent of the chapter, will give a presentation on American Indian Women. The meeting is open to the public.

Video to be shown

FARMINGTON – The video, “Orwell Rolls in His Grave,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Education Center, room 113, High Street.

The video, by Director Robert Kane Pappas, is a critical examination of the Fourth Estate, once the bastion of American democracy. Asking whether America has entered an Orwellian world of doublespeak where outright lies can pass for the truth, Pappas explores the media.

The film screening is being sponsored by Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop and is free and open to the public.
