WILTON – Boy Scout Brian Carlton, 17, of Wilton, plans to attend Tuesday’s selectmen’s meeting to ask the board for approval of an Eagle Scout project that he is planning, said Town Manager Peter Nielsen on Monday.

With the help of volunteers from Troop #518, he wants to work on the park in East Wilton fixing structures and equipment, painting, providing new basketball court backboards and planting, Carlton said following the most recent board meeting.

He expects to cover expenses by fundraising and collecting donations. Carlton hopes to start soon and be finished by fall, to meet Eagle Scout requirements.

The board may also go into an executive session with town attorney Lee Bragg to discuss a possible settlement agreement over the final payment to Cole Layer Trumble for the town’s 2007 property evaluation.

Other items to be addressed include a proposal by fire Chief Sonny Dunham to convert the community building to a propane heating system, an idea that requires approval at the town meeting, Nielsen said.

The board will also decide whether to accept a $2,500 offer for fire Engine 5, a 1983 cab and chassis, and review plow truck and plowing equipment bids and other items, he said.
