PARIS – Plans for the annual Memorial Day service are under way at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Paris. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the facility located at 477 High St.

The program will include a welcome by the facility’s new administrator, Joel Dutton, and Joe Cooney, chairman of the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee. The committee and the home are co-sponsoring the event.

The flag-raising and posting of the colors will be performed by American Legion Post 150. An invocation will be given by the Rev. Melvin Young. The guest speaker will be Rumford Town Manager Jim Doar.

Other features of the ceremony will include a reading by Stephen Penney, winner of the District 9 Voice of Democracy contest. A roll call will be done to honor each deceased resident from the facility over the past year.

Friends, families and community members are invited. Refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be available. For more information, call 743-6300 or visit www.maineveteranshomes.org.
