PORTLAND – The Maine Association of Nonprofits honored a Lewiston organization as a leader in nonprofit excellence at their annual conference on May 8.

Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice of Lewiston received $3,000 as a winner of the Dirigo Award for excellence at a large nonprofit organization. It demonstrated an extraordinary ability to adapt in light of the tenuous funding environment in which it operates.

Awards are given to one large, one medium and one small nonprofit that has achieved significant results by utilizing ingenuity combined with sound management in 11 different practices: Governance and leadership, planning, financial management, human resources, public policy and advocacy, information technology, transparency and accountability, communication, strategic alliance, fundraising, and evaluation.
