LISBON – Voters approved the $14,569,910 school budget for fiscal 2009 as adopted by the Town Council in a state-required referendum election Tuesday by a 38-vote margin, 265-227.

In a second nonbinding opinion question asking those who voted against it why they were opposed, 217 said it was too high and 18 said it too low.

Just 492 out of 6,059 registered voters turned out, a spokesman at the town clerk’s office said.
