May 6 through 12 is designated National Nurses Week every year. Rumford Hospital celebrated its nurses with a variety of special meals, a tea for retired nurses and corsages for nurses. The activity that brought the most smiles must have been the “Wear Your Whites” initiative. Several nurses arrived for work in full dress, right down to the cape.
