HARTFORD – Only two residents attended the hearing for the annual town meeting warrant on Thursday night. Selectmen’s Chairman Dave Bowen breezed through the articles with little or no discussion coming from the audience.

If there are no changes to the warrant at town meeting, the fiscal 2009 municipal budget will be $722,773. The SAD 39 budget is $973,337 and Oxford County taxes are $68,090, making a total budget of $1,764,190. The budget last year was $1,668,238.

Bowen said the town budget is up 4.9 percent from last year, making a mil rate of $14.53 per $1,000 of valuation. Town Clerk Lianne Bedard said that the budget is $703 below the state spending limit.

The town exceeded budget on sand in the winter roads account, and there is a request to appropriate not more than $4,000 from the fund balance.

The price of fuel has raised the Town Office and the Town Hall accounts from last year.

Alternates have been added to the Planning Board, which calls for an amendment to the Planning Board ordinance.

Article 35 is to see if the town will raise or appropriate money for the purpose of contributing funds for the acquisition of the lake Anasagunticook Dam.

David Bowen is seeking reelection as selectman for a three-year term and Jack Plumley is also seeking the seat.

Jeremy Johnson is seeking reelection as road commissioner and former road commissioner Kathy Lowe is also running.

Christine Mumau is seeking a three-year term as a SAD 39 director and Tom Hamilton is running for a one year term as SAD 39 director.

Elections are scheduled to be held on June 10 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The annual town meeting will be held on Thursday night, June 12 at 7 p.m.
