Between Monday, May 19, at 7 a.m. to Friday, May 23, at 7 a.m. this department has responded to 559 calls for service. Of those calls, 171 of them were motor vehicle stops.

Criminal Mischief

Little Dan’s at 757 Main St. was vandalized overnight May 18-19, property was damaged and the sign was changed to vulgarities.

A rock was thrown through a window at Sandcastle Preschool at 144 Howe St. overnight May 18-19.

A vehicle left at Berube’s Auto Care at 147 East Ave. for repair was keyed overnight May 18-19.

A vehicle parked at the Sun Journal on Park St. had its windshield wipers ripped off overnight May 19-20.

Two juveniles were summonsed on May 20 at 11:30 p.m. after they were found slashing tires on vehicles on Bates College property.

A window to the Multi Purpose Center at 145 Birch St. was broken out overnight May 20-21.

A juvenile was summonsed for criminal mischief on May 22 at 2:01 a.m. after an officer witnessed him throw a rock through a window at Creative Glass on Middle Street. Five juveniles were caught throwing paintballs at the Lewiston Middle School at 75 Central Ave. on May 2 at noon.

A rock was thrown through a window at TD Banknorth at 124 Lisbon St. overnight May 21-22.

A rock was thrown through a window at Tri County Mental Health at 73 Pine St. prior to 9:30 p.m. on May 22.

Thefts

A weight bench and a set of weights were stolen from the parking lot of 20 Tall Pines Drive overnight May 18-19.

A silver Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike was stolen from a bike rack at Hawthorne Hall between May 16-19.

A yellow Gary Fisher bicycle was stolen from John Bertram Hall at 78 Campus Ave. overnight May 19-20.

A red and silver Trek Mountain Bike was stolen from Rand Village at 280 College St. overnight May 19-20.

A purse was stolen from a customer of Fuel Restaurant at 49 Lisbon St. on May 21 in the evening.

A purse was stolen from a vehicle which was parked at 65 Central Ave. on May 22 at 12:05 p.m.

Maine Registration 1196PY was stolen from a vehicle parked at Pleasant View Acres on May 23.

A vehicle left at Rick’s Auto Body at 14 South Lisbon Road had a catalytic converter stolen from it overnight May 22-23.

Burglaries

Orbit Hair Salon at 124 Ash St. was burglarized on May 21 at 3:20 a.m., the suspect forced entry and stole money from inside.

An apartment at 42 College St. was entered prior to 3 p.m. on May 21, entry was gained through an unlocked window.

Penmore Lithographers at 8 Lexington St. was burglarized overnight May 21-22. The suspect broke a window to gain entry and stole two forklifts from inside.

Custom Metal Roofs at 4 Trident Drive was burglarized overnight May 21-22, entry was gained by breaking a window; a forklift was taken from inside.

An apartment at 22 Wakefield St. was burglarized between 2 and 4 p.m. on May 22.

Motor Vehicle Burglaries

A vehicle parked at the Lewiston Municipal Garage at 1 Oak St. was burglarized overnight May 18-19. The vehicle was unlocked; cologne was taken from inside.

A vehicle parked at New England Home Therapies at 21 Westminster St. was burglarized overnight May 22-23.

Elevated Aggravated Assault Arrest

Kenneth Phipps, 56, was charged with elevated aggravated assault on May 19 at 8 p.m. after a pedestrian was shot in the hip with a .25 caliber handgun. The victim was walking through an alleyway at 17 Horton St. when he was confronted by Phipps who demanded that he leave his private property. This is the second shooting for trespassing at Phipps’ home since February.

Arson Arrests

Edmund Antell, 19, and Kyle Pickard, 19, were charged with arson on May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Bates College pond after they set a pile of signs on fire and threw a gallon canister of gas on top of the flames.

Operating After Suspension Arrests

Logan Flaherty, 18, was charged with operating without a license on May 19 at 4:40 p.m. at Pond Road and Brule Street following a routine traffic stop.

Michael Gazza, 37, was charged with operating while license was suspended on May 20 at 4:39 p.m. at 320 Webster St. following a routine traffic stop.

Operating Under the Influence Arrest

Tracy Stevenson, 40, was charged with operating under the influence on May 21 at 11:56 p.m. at Main and Bates streets following a routine traffic stop.
