Approximately 1,000 music fans attended a concert Saturday night – Rave ‘n Rage 2008 – featuring a lineup of Maine-based bands at the Andro scoggin Bank Colisee.

Headliner Dead Season of Oxford drew fans from throughout the state, while other lesser-known bands such as Poland’s Sparks the Rescue and Lewiston’s The Cambiata appealed largely to local and regional rockers. Concert-goer Anthony Castonguay of Livermore said he’s been following Dead Season for a couple of years. “They definitely have a unique sound,” he said. “It’s pretty heavy.”

Mark Curdo, a DJ for event co-promoter WCYY radio, said Dead Season released its latest CD last week, featuring the single “Never Decide,” which his station has been giving plenty of play. It was good timing for the concert, he said. “The stars aligned.”

The crowd ranged in age from young teens to parents. Some sat in bleachers. The front half of the floor in front of the stage was packed with fans. Red and yellow lights flashed overhead.

Although this is the first such event at the Colisee, Kellie Morris, event and marketing manager, said another is planned for next year.
