AUBURN – Donald W. Linscott, secretary of the Mt. Auburn Veterans Association, reports the 44th meeting was held at the Capt Frank W Hulett VFW 1603 Post Home recently.

Present were Linscott, Treasurer Carl Douglass and Leo Koss, Paul Beaucage and Stanley Brickell, American Legion Post 31; Daniel Cyr, American Legion Post 153; Charles Burns, Keith Davis and Gary McKenney, VFW Post 1603.

Election results were: president, Gary McKenney; treasurer, Carl Douglass; and secretary, Donald W. Linscott Jr.

There were 109 dozen 12 x 18-inch flags were furnished by the city of Auburn for the Memorial Day flagging of the graves. Twenty dozen flags were distributed to American Legion Post 153; 32 dozen, American Legion Post 31; and 59 dozen, Post 1603, VFW.

Douglass noted that $100 was donated to a local family for assistance with the burial of a veteran.

The association was incorporated on Feb. 27, 1936, and reorganized in 1964. A plot at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, to be used for burial of veterans who were is desperate straits, was passed to the association by Burnside Post 47, GAR.
