AUBURN – Two Auburn men were taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a Memorial Day brawl on Willow Street on Monday night.

Auburn police Lt. Timothy Cougle said Scott Demmons, 26, of 13 Willow St. was cited for disorderly conduct as a result of the fight in the middle of the street. Larry Williams, 42, formerly of 17 Willow St., was expected to be charged with disorderly conduct after treatment.

Cougle said the fight occurred shortly after 8 p.m. and involved several people.

Cougle said officers had been called to the same location twice before that day for reports of a large crowd gathering in the street to fight. On both prior occasions the crowd dispersed as police arrived.

Cougle said Demmons and Williams – the only two injured in the fight – were being charged with disorderly conduct and not assault because it was difficult to interview witnesses and determine fault in the incident because many witnesses were also involved in the actual fighting.
