AUBURN – The American Nurses Association of Maine held its annual award dinner at the Martindale Country Club on May 2.

ANA-Maine gives two awards annually in honor of two respected nursing leaders in Maine: the Sister Consuela White Spirit of Nursing Award and the Agnes E. Flaherty Nursing Leadership Award.

Nominated for the Flaherty award were: Joanne Chapman, RN, MSN. CNA-BC, Maine Medical Center; Deborah Dolan-Bachand, RN, BSN, CAN-BC, Maine Medical Center; Margaret McRae, CCRN, Central Maine Medical Center; Pamela Correll, RN, BSN, Maine Public Health Nursing; April Giard, PMH-NP, CNS, CNAA, Acadia Hospital; and Joan Oddy, RN, Southern Maine Medical Center.

The White award nominations were Lindsay Austin, RN, Central Maine Medical Center; Terry Lacroix, RN, BSN, CCRN, Goodall Hospital; Denise Deschenes, RN, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center; Carol Marino, RN, Penobscot Valley Hospital; and Cathy Rand, RN, Mercy Hospital.

The recipient of the Flaherty award is Giard; White award, Denise Deschenes.
