FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue Voices a cappella vocal ensemble from Mt. Blue High School, under the direction of Dennis Hayes, will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in Nordica Auditorium, University of Maine at Farmington.
The concert is being billed as the “Last Chance” to hear this year’s edition of the high school group. The concert concludes a successful school year highlighted by the singers traveling to Walt Disney World in Florida during April.
The Voices also presented a well received clinic/concert at the May Maine Music Educators Association in-service conference held in conjunction with the All-State Music Festival.
Performing their last concert with the Voices will be 10 seniors.
The graduating members are James Rossi, Patric Brophy, Kelly Greene, Lauren Kerr, Hannah Sloane-Barton, Serach Ramu, Sarah Leopold, Elisabeth Stancioff, Abby Buckland and Kaija Fellman.
During the program, the new members recently selected following May 21 auditions will be introduced.
Hayes said the high quality of the singing displayed at auditions ensures that next year’s Mt. Blue Voices will be as entertaining as previously.
Hayes said, “It is always difficult to say goodbye to the seniors moving on from high school, but the incoming new members makes up a very special group of talented new voices. I’m very excited about the upcoming opportunity to work with these student musicians.”
The concert will feature all of the Voices repertoire from this year, which includes pop hit songs from the 1950s to the present.
One of the Voices members said, “We are looking to make this a special thank-you concert aimed at showing our appreciation for all the support given us by the community during the school year.”
The concert is free and there will be refreshments served after the performance.
