Oxford Hills names May students

PARIS – The Norway-Paris Rotary Club has honored the May Students of the Month at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Students chosen were Patricia Splude, freshman; Kyle Lamb, sophomore; Sarah Brown, junior; and Katelyn Hall, senior. This is the eighth year of the Rotary Club’s program sponsorship.

Each month, high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.” The goal of the program is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship.

The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange and is part of the character education curriculum at the high school. Maureen Howard, director of the Education Exchange, coordinates the program.

The four students were commended for their work ethic, friendliness, willingness to help other students during and after school and willingness to explore new experiences.

The students’ names and photos are placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. Each month the four students have lunch with the principal and on May 21 they were honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition, each student received their own plaque.
