WINTHROP – Torey Carr, scattered eight hits and struck out five over seven innings of work to lead the Winthrop Red Sox past the Rockies, 15-2, in a Men’s Senior Baseball League contest.
Two double plays helped Carr’s cause. Dave Ricker Jr., Joe Wilson and ageless Jim Morris collected three hits apiece for the Sox, including a two-run home run by Ricker. Other repeat hitters were Mike House, Matt Richardson and Bob Cochran.
The Rockies’ Justin Libby cracked three singles, while Randy Brodeur and Kevin Guertin each added a pair of hits.
The Rockies travel to Auburn at 9 a.m. next Sunday to face the White Sox at Pettengill Park. The Red Sox have a bye week.
