LEWISTON – David Ouellette smacked a solo home run in the eighth inning to lift Lewiston to a 14-13 victory over Lawrence in KVAC baseball action Tuesday.

Alex Wong led the Blue Devils (10-6) with three hits, while Robbie Leeman added two. Jeff Keene picked up the mound win after a successful eight-inning effort.

The Bulldogs (6-10) plated seven runs in the fifth inning, but fell apart in the seventh when Lewiston exploded for eight runs.

Rangeley sweeps

RANGELEY – Luke Hammond and Ben Bliss both put in solid pitching efforts, while the Rangeley bats were on fire as they swept a late-season baseball doubleheader, 10-0, 7-2, against Greater Portland Christian (GPC) on Tuesday afternoon.

In the opener, Hammond gave up just one hit and helped his own cause with a home run.

Kent Madeira also smashed a home run for the Lakers (8-4) in a powerful offensive attack.

Bliss gave up two hits in the nightcap as Rangeley completed the sweep. Catcher David Raymond and Bliss led the Lakers with two hits each, while Hammond belted another home run in the fourth inning.

Brewer 14, EL 4

AUBURN – Chase Daniels scattered eight hits and drew ample run support as Brewer overpowered Edward Little 14-4 in a regular-season KVAC baseball finale Tuesday afternoon.

Eric White and Billy Bissell led the Witches (14-2) with three hits apiece. Brewer set the tone with three runs in the first and never relinquished the pressure.

The Red Eddies (9-7) were led by Kyle Bussiere with a home run, while Eric Prue and Devon Flynn belted doubles. Starter Adam Lutz was saddled with the loss.

Hampden 12, Leavitt 1

TURNER – Brendan Perry hurled seven innings of one-hit baseball Tuesday as Hampden cruised to a 12-1 rout over Leavitt in a late-season KVAC matchup.

Nolan Turner and Sean Smith led the Broncos (10-6) with three hits apiece, while Ryan McCluskey and Ryan Lindemann belted two each.

The Hornets (2-14) were paced by Doug Nash with three hits and Gard Castonguay with two. Starter Colby Youland was saddled with the loss after a painful first four innings.

Mt. Ararat 6, Mt. Blue 5

TOPSHAM – Joe Gilbert’s sixth-inning home run brought Mt. Blue close but just shy as Mt. Ararat hung on for a 6-5 victory in baseball action on the diamond Tuesday.

Anthony Ferrell led the Eagles (10-6) with two hits and two RBIs, while Bill Bickford and Adam Cyr belted doubles. Jon Frye picked up the mound win after working the first five innings.

The Cougars (3-13) were led by Gilbert and Leo Pullo with two hits each, while Brad Dority was tagged with the loss.

Lacrosse

EL 8, Mt. Ararat 5

AUBURN – Matt Nyholm netted four goals Tuesday to lead Edward Little to a 8-5 win over Mt. Ararat in a late-season KVAC boys’ lacrosse tilt.

Aaron Gould, Tim Brodsky, Isiah Rembert and Zack Bennett also tallied for the Eddies (3-9) to complete the scoring. Derek Racine made 12 saves to notch the victory.

The Eagles (3-9) saw five players register goals, with Ryan Clavette, Zack Drehoble, Nick Dempsey, Phil Bouchard and Ian Messner all finding the net. Brian Bousquet-Smith turned aside eight shots for Mt. Ararat.

St. Dom’s 10, York 7

YORK – Senior Captain Andrew Gwarjanski scored five goals and added an assist to lead St. Dom’s to a 10-7 victory over York in more local boy’s lacrosse action Tuesday.

Trevor Haefele chipped in with three goals for the Saints (7-5), while Cam McKee and Jon Mulbering also tallied to complete the scoring. Ben Horton made 20 saves (most of them in the third quarter) to notch the win.

York (4-8) received two goals each from Dan Powers and Peter Thibeault, while single goals from Sonny Sala, Dylan Borgel and Dave Figlioli round out the final tally. Vic Zetterberg turned aside 14 shots between the posts for York.

Oak Hill 9, Mt. Blue 8

FARMINGTON – Tyler Pomerleau and Nick Brown each scored three goals as Oak Hill (10-2) shook off Mt. Blue with a 9-8 victory over Mt. Blue (7-5) in boys’ lacrosse Tuesday.

The Cougars held a 5-3 lead going into the second half when the Raiders erupted with six more goals in the last two quarters. Mt. Blue’s Dan Jannelle had two goals

For Mt. Blue, Zac Conlogue led the way with four goals and Colton Miranda scored two.
