In April, Paul Madore, who is running for State Senate from Lewiston, knocked on my door and we talked a little bit. I asked him how he felt about post traumatic stress disorder and funding for veterans’ health care.
I was shocked and angered when he said PTSD is over-diagnosed, and most veterans are taking advantage of the system. He wants to take veteran funding and combine it with disabilities funding to dramatically reduce the amount of money that is being spent on veteran care.
As a veteran of the Iraq War, I was a member of the first infantry division based out of Tikrit from 2004 to 2005. While I was there, my division saw the highest casualties and deaths of any.
Because of my experience in Iraq, I have been diagnosed with PTSD. I have a difficult time surviving, of knowing where I am supposed to be day to day, not to mention having survivor’s guilt and anxiety. Sometimes, I don’t want to go on.
Paul Madore is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is posing as a Democrat when I feel his views are those of a Republican. He is more concerned about cutting funds than helping those in need.
