FARMINGTON – The Board of Selectmen have signed a proclamation making the week of June 8-14 Supreme Americanism Week, Mabel Cox of the Farmington Emblem Club’s Americanism Committee announced.

The event will be highlighted with a public flag ceremony at 11 a.m. June 15 at the Elks Lodge. The ceremony, led by the Elks and the American Legion, will include burning old flags, she said. The Emblem Club has adopted the American flag as the emblem of its order and has adopted the name Emblem by which the organization is known, according to the Americanism Proclamation.

It further calls for the club to create an Americanism Committee and to participate with others in patriotic community endeavors; for each Emblem member to finish a patriotic deed each day; for each club to assist the Americanism Program of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; and for each club and member to bear true allegiance to the Constitution and the flag of the United States of America.
