AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. The annual food sale will be held, and members are reminded to “cook much in small packages.” There will be no raffle table. Tickets for the July 9 cook in/out will be on sale at $4 each and will be sold at the June 11 and 25 meetings.

The club met May 28 with 59 members in attendance. Loretta Campbell of Lisbon was welcomed as a guest, and Kay Hewison was welcomed back. Trip Chairwoman Evelyn Sawin reminded members the bus to Foster’s Lobster Bake, York, will leave Post 31 at 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 13. Those going need to be there at 9 a.m.

A memorial service was held with past president Lucy Cowles in charge, assisted by Pat Donohue, chaplain, and Kay Koss, Virginia Howe and Caroline Chapman. Music was provided by Ralph Lashua, soloist and guitarist. Birthdays for May were acknowledged. Attendance prize winners were Jean Pepin and Betty Hebert; pot of gold, Pat Donohue, George Remillard and Donald Fyfe. Following the meeting and a bag lunch, bingo was played.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

This month’s discussion, “Great Beginnings: Establishing and Maintaining Breastfeeding,” will focus on preparing to nurse baby at birth and adjusting to babies’ changing needs as a family.

All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

Grange to elect

AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet for the annual dinner at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the New China Super Buffet on East Avenue. They will then retire to the grange hall for a meeting and election of officers. All members and guests are invited. To make reservations, contact Glenys Ryder at 783-6897.

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will observe Father’s Day when all fathers and grandfathers will be honored. The chapter will also learn about its adopt-a-spot in the community.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on June 3 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, Nancy Lindgren and Leslie Buzzell; second, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; third, Richard Balian and Woodrow Mercier; fourth, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; fifth, Martine Begert and Fred Letourneau.

Flight B winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the center.

The club also met on June 4 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, John Hackett and Sherry Hinckley; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Fred Letourneau and Sally McGee; fourth, Nancy Lindgren and Rosemarie Goodwin; fifth, Phil and Jean Bird.

Flight B winners were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau. Another game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Schooner Estates.

A partner is guaranteed at both games.
