RUMFORD – The Board Certification for Emergency Nurses held their board meeting and exam construction review committee meeting for the first time in Maine. The BCEN oversees the development and testing of the certified emergency nursing exam.

The BCEN board has nine practicing certified emergency nurses, one public member, one air and transport representative, one Emergency Nursing Association representative, the certification officer and the chief executive officer. The board works with the exam constructive review committee, whose job is to serve as a resource and research consultant to the BCEN regarding test construction, content and evaluation of the certified emergency nurse exam.

The chairwoman of BCEN/ECRC is Robin Gilbert, RN, MSN, CEN, of Bethel, who is the Emergency Department manager at Rumford Hospital. Gilbert will hold the title through 2009.

During the BCEN meeting, Rumford Hospital sponsored lunch for the committee members.
