HARRISON – Voters will bring in two new selectmen and act on 24 articles at the annual election and town meeting Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Town Office for the election of two selectmen, one Planning Board member, and one Appeals Board member.

Incumbent Selectmen Thomas Scribner, the vice chairman on the board, and James Bennett are not seeking re-election to three-year terms.

Willard S. Goodwin, Kevin R. LaPlante, Edwin R. Rolfe Jr. and Christopher D. Sanborn are candidates for the positions.

Jonathan W. Washburn is running unopposed for the Planning Board, and there is no candidate for the Appeals Board.

The annual town meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Elementary School. Voters will determine whether amendments to the shoreland zoning ordinance should be approved and if Homestead Lane should be accepted as a town road.

Voters will also act on several budget articles. The Budget Committee has recommended cuts in employee benefits, protection, unclassified accounts, and outside agencies’ budgets.

The town will also determine whether $77,500 should be transferred from the undesignated fund balance to cover an overdraft in the snow removal budget and a $5,302 transfer to cover an overdraft in the town office salaries budget.
