Antique car show

CANTON – An antique car show will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at large field next to the Canton ball field, Route 140. The show will be held rain or shine.

Registration will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and the trophies awarded at 1 p.m. Cost will be $5 for car, driver and passenger.

There will also be games, food sale, crafts, flea market, face painting and pony rides. A chicken dinner will be available in the afternoon for eat-in or take-out to benefit Relay For Life.

Car show proceeds will benefit Scouting efforts in Canton. Contact Steve Cole at 597-2729 for more information.

Special bingo

RUMFORD – Rumford Senior Citizens will hold a special nickel bingo at noon Saturday, June 14, playing for prizes. Everyone is welcome.

The lobster fest on Sunday, June 22, still has seats left. Sign-up is necessary, and all are welcome.

A trip to the new Bangor Hollywood Slots will be held Wednesday, July 9, leaving at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $25.

On Wednesday, Aug. 13, a mystery trip will be held at a cost of $55, including a meal. On Friday, Aug 22, seniors will attend a musical, “Footloose.” The cost is $20.

The bus is full for the TRIAD picnic.

RUMFORD – The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at 85 Lincoln Ave. For more information, call Donna Landry at 364-4561.

Class luncheon

RUMFORD – The luncheon for Stephens High School Class of 1945 will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Brian’s Bistro on Hartford Street, formerly the Boiler Room. Call Connie at 364-8785 or Muriel if planning to attend.

Poodunck meeting

DIXFIELD – The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will have a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Clubhouse, Canton Point Road. The club has an opportunity to purchase a new groomer and members’ input is asked. For more information, call Jon at 562-4690.

Retired teachers

NORWAY – The Oxford County Education Association-Retired will meet on Friday, June 20, at the Catholic Church on Paris Street. The social period will start at 10:30 a.m. and the business meeting at 11.

There will be a necrology service and the fundraiser will be a yard sale. All retirees and support personnel are welcome. Call 743-7677 to reserve a lunch.

Camperships

RUMFORD – The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition has been awarded funding to offer camperships for local children ages 5 to 12 to attend the Greater Rumford Community Center Day Camp at Black Mountain.

The Agnes. M. Lindsay Trust provided the grant and supports a number of health and welfare organizations, health projects, special needs, including the blind, deaf and learning disabled, the elderly, children’s hospitals, children’s homes, youth organizations, youth/family services and summer camperships/summer enrichment programs.
