FARMINGTON – Sophie is an orange tabby-Maine Coon mix looking for a home at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
She is about 5 years old and loves to lie in laps. She will normally be under the futon or in a dark corner during the day. But once things quiet down at the shelter she comes out and will purr and rub up against a leg, begging to be petted. She will even race anyone near the couch so they can sit down and provide a lap.
She has not been adopted yet because she doesn’t get along with dogs and she only likes one or two other cats. She would do best in a home where she gets spoiled and she would be the only one getting attention, staff said.
They also said she is a great cat and deserves a home to call her own.
There are still many other cats at the shelter that want to find loving homes. Staff can match up potential adopters with a pet.
The shelter will host the annual kitten shower from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the UMF North Dining Hall. There will be games and refreshments. Items are needed for all the kittens at the shelter. For more information on adoption or the shower, call 778-2638.
