LISBON – A standing-room-only crowd of fellow election workers, friends and family members attended the recent Town Council meeting where 90-year-old veteran election clerk Flora Morin was honored by the town with a Certificate of Appreciation for her many years of service.

Council Vice Chairman Mike Bowie welcomed Morin, her fellow election workers and honored guests. Town Clerk Twila Lycette invited Morin to join her at the podium and presented her with a bouquet of yellow roses. Lycette said Morin took her first oath of office as an election clerk on May 15, 1993, and served continuously for 15 years until her retirement on May 20 of this year.

“Residents, her fellow election clerks and I came to know her and looked forward to seeing Flora at each election. We will miss her smile and her enthusiasm for life, also the wonderful fudge she made,” Lycette said.

She thanked Morin for her dedicated service to the town, “a job well done” and wished her a “wonderful happy 90th birthday.”

Bowie also recognized Morin for her many years of service to the Senior Citizens at the MTM Community Center where she attends and helps with the seniors program and other activities regularly.

Morin mentioned to fellow workers during the May election that she would be retiring from her election duties and they “semi-celebrated” by taking pictures at that time, and Morin wished them well, Lycertte said.

Morin celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends on Friday.

On Sunday, she will be honored with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish hall, Frost Hill Avenue, Lisbon Falls.
