July 4 barbecue

LEWISTON – Hope Haven Gospel Mission will provide a July 4th celebration barbecue between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 209 Lincoln St. The meal will be available to shut-ins as well. All in need are welcome. Shut-in who need delivery should call 783-6086.

VFW to meet

LEWISTON – Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

Seniors dinner

AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Hasty Community Center in Pettengill Park. A spaghetti dinner will be prepared by the Recreation Department. Members are asked to bring cups and utensils. Bingo will follow luncheon.

The Charles A. Morse Award is given each year to the member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for the club. This year the award will go to Lucien Marcoux.

Other winners were Barbara Hinkley, Caroline Chapman, Gerry Brushwein, June McGinley and Leone Ford.

The annual fall fair and flea market will be held in September. More information will follow.

Class reunion

AUBURN – The St. Dom’s High School Class of 1978 Reunion Committee is preparing for a 30-year reunion and is seeking contact information for the following classmates: Sylvia (Molin Pradel) Landry, Eileen Michaud and Gerard St. Pierre.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens still have seats available for the following trips:

Monday, July 14, Bar Harbor: Leave the Multi-Purpose Center at 8 a.m., travel to Bar Harbor for a lobster lunch (cost included), shop and sightsee. Meal at Dysart’s, Hampden, on the way home; back by 9 p.m.

Tuesday, July 29: Maine State Music Theater, Brunswick, “All Shook Up!,” a romantic comedy inspired by Elvis Presley.

Wednesday, Aug. 27: “My Fair Lady” at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Thursday, Sept. 9: Duck tour of Portland and Casco Bay, lunch at famous DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant.

Summer trips

LEWISTON – The Meadowview Seniors are sponsoring two summer trips.

Saturday, June 24, they will go to Boothbay Harbor, leaving at 8 a.m., cruise, stop at Cabbage Island for lunch, shop in Boothbay; cost, $75.

Monday, Aug. 11, they will go to Bailey Island, lunch at Cook’s Lobster House, shopping at Land’s End, then Bath; cost, $30.

All adults nay go on the trips. For more information, call Bert at 786-2305 or go to the Meadowview Hall Complex, 23 Spofford St., between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on June 10 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Janet Arey and Linda Leotsakos; third, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; tied at fifth, Ron and Connie Reynolds with Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault.

Flight B winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the center.

The club also met on June 11 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Sherry Hinckley and Susan Clayman; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; third, Mike and Pat Quinn; tied at fourth, David Lock and Jim Flanagan with Paul Barber and Eldon Clayman.

Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at Schooner Estates.. A partner is guaranteed at both games.
