MIDDLEFIELD (AP) – Middlefield town officials are still hoping to save the Powder Ridge ski area, despite being outbid in Saturday’s foreclosure auction.

The high bidder was Middlefield Holding LLC, which offered $2.75 million for the bankrupt, 250-acre ski area. The only other bidder was the town of Middlefield, which bid $2.7 million.

An official with the holding company says once the sale is complete, all options will be on the table, including a possible deal with the town.

Middlefield has been trying to acquire the ski area for more than two years.

It originally partnered with the owner of Ski Sundown in New Hartford, but that arrangement eventually fell apart.
