KEENE, N.H. (AP) – A Swanzey woman has been charged with stealing food from the Keene Fire Department by posing as a food pantry volunteer.
Darcy Wilson, 22, was arrested Friday, two days after she showed up at the fire department saying she was there to pick up a box of food donations and to leave an envelope to collect cash donations.
Fire officials grew suspicious because the food drive had just begun on Monday. When they called The Community Kitchen, they learned that no one there was scheduled to pick up donations at the fire department. After hearing Wilson’s description, they identified her as a former employee.
Wilson was arrested when she returned to pick up the cash. She was charged with three counts of theft, one count of attempted theft and one count of attempted fraud.
