GREENE – The town of Greene will hold its annual Greene Village Day on Saturday, Sept. 13, and the Planning Committee is inviting all interested parties to join them in making the celebration the most successful yet.
Most of the festivities will be held on Main Street near the Julia A. Morse Memorial Library, with the parade starting at the Greene Town Office and ending at the Greene Central School. To participate in the parade, contact Peter Jolicoeur at 946-7250.
The Greene Village Day not only offers family fun, it is an important fundraising event for community organizations.
There are a number of ways to participate in the day-long celebration. Local nonprofit organizations or school clubs looking to raise money can set up a table at no charge. Members can sell food and soft drinks, have a raffle, silent auction or bake sale, set up kids’ games, offer face painting or run a car wash.
For the first time, businesses are invited to exhibit at the Greene Village Day. Booths are $20 a 10′ x 10′ space for Greene-based merchants. The committee will open up booths to businesses based outside Greene for $35. There is no fee for local nonprofit organizations.
If an organization or business would like to participate or someone has a couple hours to spare during the day to volunteer, contact Carol Buzzell at the Greene Town Office at 946-5146 or sign up online at www.greenevillageday.com.
