WEST PARIS – Road Foreman Bill Keach told selectmen on Thursday that a rebuilt transmission has been installed in the highway department’s road grader and the machine is ready to go.
Keach said, “It came to $1,900, including labor.”
Grading of the town’s dirt roads begins this week.
Keach also told selectmen his crew has been ditching and replacing culverts in the Tewell Town area.
“We still have more ditching to do and several other culverts to replace. All in all the summer road maintenance program is coming along well.” said Keach.
Roadside mowing will done in July also, he said.
Deputy Town Clerk Holly Packard said she will be sending out 129 notices of unpaid real estate taxes from 2007. She said property owners receiving notices will have 30 days to bring their taxes up to date before a lien is filed.
Unpaid 2007 taxes total $99,327, Packard said.
Town Manager John White will mail 2008 tax bills before the end of July and estimates they’ll reflect about a 4 percent increase over 2007.
