Money transfers

The Issue: At the end of each fiscal year the town transfers amounts leftover to other accounts that are overdrawn after review and approval of the Budget Advisory Board. The municipal fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.

The Scoop: Councilors approved transferring $155,000 in unspent school funds among various overextended school accounts to balance them.

Contracts awarded

The Scoop: Budget-A was awarded the contract to provide a photocopier at the town office on its bid of $242 per month for a three-year lease.

Stripe Marketing Inc. was awarded the contract for double yellow striping 29.86 miles and 3,148 miles of white striping on town roads on its bid of $17,356

Downeast Energy was awarded the contract to provide fuel on it’s bid of $4.29 per gallon.

Loan approved

The Issue:
The town has an economic development revolving loan program for businesses.

The Scoop: Councilors approved a $50,000 loan for T&A Variety in the former NAPA building on Route 196 in Lisbon Village. Terms are for 10 years at 6.5 percent interest.

Town Manager Steve Eldridge reported the $200,000 revolving loan to Bonneau’s Sausage Kitchen has been closed.

Announcements

The Scoop:
Mark Tupper was reappointed to the Board of Appeals and Janet Tuttle to the Recreation Committee. Both are three-year terms.

Eldridge noted that state reconstruction of the intersection of routes 9 and 196 will take place in September.

About 75 people attended a Recreation Department overview workshop. Most urged the Town Council not to relocate the recreation director’s office from the MTM Community Center to the town office, and they advocated keeping the center staffed full time.
