LEWISTON – There will be a community meal and flower planting at Lots to Gardens’ plot, 243 Blake St., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday. The annual event is a kickoff to the summer season.

People are encouraged to bring a pot of food to share and a pot to plant a flower to take home. Lots to Gardens will bring a sampling of dishes made from some early garden harvests. Everyone is invited to help plant flowers donated by Blais Flowers. For more information contact Bridgette at Lots to Gardens, 513-3844.

Since 1999, Lots to Gardens has built 15 gardens and green spaces in four neighborhoods in Lewiston, employing sustainable urban agriculture to grow food for the community. The program is sponsored by St. Mary’s Health Care System.
