GREENE – The wedding of Laura Grace Johnson and Richard Kenton “Rastus” Combs was held June 1 in Greene, with approximately 90 people attending. Holli J. Oliviere officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Combs is the daughter of the late Patricia and Paul Canty. Mr. Combs is the son of the late Barbara and Roy Combs.

The bride, given in marriage by a close friend, Michael Hughes, wore a black and white halter style dress with beaded head band and carried a bouquet of silk black, white and red flowers.

A wedding tent was decorated in the same colors with an archway. The reception area was designed in a racing theme with checkered flags, balloons and decorations in the Earnhardt colors.

A friend of the bride, Tina M. Titus, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Johnson, daughter of the bride, and Sara Powell and Michele Hughes, friend. Emma Hughes was flower girl.

Serving as best man was a friend of the bridegroom, Matthew Higgins. Ushers were Seth Higgins, Wayne Titus and Roger Bickford, friends.

An outdoor reception followed in Greene. The couple is planning a camping, fishing and ATV trip in August. They are residing in Durham.

The bride received a master’s degree in education from Goddard College, a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Southern Maine, and an associate degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine at Augusta. She is currently working on her master’s degree in psychology and counseling, and is employed in the law office of L’Hommedieu in Lewiston.

The bridegroom is a 1972 graduate of Lisbon High School, and is employed by the Lisbon School Department and Larry Stewart Auto Sales.
