LEWISTON – Kyle Neagle fired a five-hit shutout to lead Gayton to a 7-0 victory over Andy Valley in American Legion Zone III baseball action Tuesday.
Eddie West led the offense with three hits, including a double and triple. Greg LaBonte and Neagle also had doubles for Gayton (9-2). Neagle struck out five and did not walk a batter.
Evan Barker led Andy Valley (3-8) with a single and a double. Kolby Youland pitched the first three innings and took the loss.
Bessey Motors 4, N. Oxford County 2
SOUTH PARIS – Evan Humphrey stroked a two-run single up the middle, tying the game in the bottom of the sixth, and scored the game-winning run as Bessey Motors escaped with a 4-2 victory over Northern Oxford County.
Matt Labauskis kept Bessey off the scoreboard for five innings before Ryan Yates led off the sixth with a single. Matt Verrier doubled, setting the table for Humphrey. Dillon Trundy added an insurance run with a single to right field, plating Chase.
Northern Oxford County (5-6) scored a pair of runs in the second when Labauskis doubled and scored on an error. Alex Gagnon walked and later scored on a Connor Blais single.
Ryan Yates went the distance for Bessey (8-2), fanning seven and walking one.
Cole Farms 5, Gilman Electric 4
GRAY – Trevor McCutcheon laid down a perfect suicide bunt to score Owen Chaplin with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Cole Farms a 5-4 victory over Gilman Electric.
With the game tied, Chaplin led off with a walk and advanced to third when Artie Winship reached on a throwing error. After a strikeout, McCutcheon dropped a perfectly-placed bunt down the first-base line that was unplayable.
Tom Rich added a two-run double for Cole Farms (6-6) during a three-run second inning.
Gilman Electric (5-7) scored all four runs in the fifth on four walks, three errors, two wild pitches and an RBI single by Kyle Mullins.
NAL 9, Swansey/Torrey 4
AUBURN – Eric Prue belted a two-runner homer as New Auburn Legion erupted with five runs the fifth inning as NAL cruised to a 9-4 victory over Swansey/Torrey in an American Legion game Tuesday evening.
NAL pounded out 12 hits, but committed five errors.
Adam Lutz went 3-for-4, which included a double. Michael Muise got the win on the mound after NAL had built a 4-1 cushion before the explosive fifth inning.
For Swansey/Torrey, David Guilford went 3-for-3 and James Moulton doubled.
