Circle meeting

PERU – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet on Sunday, July 13, for Mass at St. Mary’s Church at Roxbury Pond. A meeting will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the camp ground, Roxbury Pond. Chairwomen are Jolene Lovejoy and Alfreda Kaubris.

Vacation school

PERU – The United Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, July 14 to 18, at the church. “Come to God’s Big Backyard!” is the them and children ages 3 to 12 are invited for Bible lessons, crafts, games and snacks.

July toy run

ANDOVER – The Roxbury ATV Riders will sponsor the second annual Christmas in July Toy Run on Saturday, July 19. The run and raffle ride will leave from Grimaldi Field at 10 a.m. and return to Grimaldi Field. The charge is $5 a person.

Riders must bring an unwrapped toy in a plastic bag or a cash donation. A free barbecue lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade french fries and drinks will be served. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

The toy run will benefit Rumford/Mexico Santa’s Helpers; Peru/Dixfield Christmas for Parents; Bethel’s Christmas for Families; and Andover, Roxbury and Byron Families in Crisis.

Bridge results

RUMFORD – The Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club had its first game of the summer season on June 26. It meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Community Center. All bridge players are invited.

At the five-table Howell game the pair of Jennifer Cohen and Debby Steward tied with Paula Humbert and Clara Roy for first. Donna and Ozzie Swett were third, and Ann McCluskie and Judy Roy finished fourth.

At the July 3 game the Paula Humbert and Clara Roy were winners. Marilyn and Eric Sahlburg were second. Anna Cormier and Jessie Shea tied with Jean and Bill Hersey for third.

4th celebrated

DIXFIELD – The evening of July 4th was celebrated with patriotic song offerings by local vocalist, Sammie Angel.

The Dixfield Economic Development Council sponsored the concert to celebrate the holiday and to call attention to the G. Dana Holt Gazebo, which is available for any who wish to showcase their music.

Nearly 150 brought lawn chairs for the nearly two-hour concert. Refreshments were available to purchase.

During the concert, an announcement was made that the next presentation in the gazebo will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Fiddler Jim Roy and keyboardist Jodie Kazregis will perform jigs and reels. For more information, call Norine at 562-8816 daytimes.
