LEWISTON – Northeast Bank employees and their families helped out a local homeowner with Rebuilding Together L/A in the spring.
A team of Northeast employees and family members, as well as volunteers from RE/MAX River Cities, stopped by the home on a Saturday to help with yard work, painting and small repairs around the house.
Rebuilding Together L/A is a local chapter of national Rebuilding Together, dedicated to assuring that low-income homeowners, from the elderly and disabled, to families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. The effort in Lewiston was part of National Rebuilding Day, Rebuilding Together’s annual signature event.
“Helping a homeowner who needs a hand right in our backyard is a great opportunity for us to give back to our community,” said George Greenwood from Rebuilding Together L/A. “And volunteers at local companies like Northeast not only help us get the job done, it gives them a chance to work as a team in a setting outside the office.”
For the third year, Northeast Bank gave a monetary donation to help support Rebuilding Together L/A’s mission, in addition to the time its employees gave on National Rebuilding Day.
“Northeast is committed to serving the communities we’re in. By helping local homeowners with Rebuilding Together L/A, we can ensure that the city where we live and work is a vibrant, healthy one,” said Marcel Blais, SVP and chief operating officer. “With things being tight in the housing market, we want to help out homeowners in any way we can.”
National Rebuilding Day occurs every spring and is the culmination of a year of planning, evaluating, training, organizing, fundraising and assembling a nationwide group of volunteers. People help from all walks of life, to repair and restore houses and nonprofit facilities.
