This iris, the Society for Japanese Irises – 2007 Payne Medal winner hybridized by John White of Minot, will be shown Saturday, July 12, at the Maine Iris Society’s Japanese Iris Show. White’s “Dirigo Pink Milestone” iris was considered to be the truest pink Japanese Iris that had been hybridized to date when he introduced it into commerce. It took several years for it to climb up in the voting ranks to eventually win the highest award given by the Japanese Iris Society. The show will run from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Auburn Middle School. Admission is free. A Japanese iris plant sale will begin at 1 p.m. Judged Japanese irises as well as iris arrangements will be displayed.
