SCARBOROUGH (AP) – The town of Scarborough is celebrating its 350th anniversary.
A long weekend of entertainment and other special events begins Thursday night with a performance by country singer Don Campbell. The rock band Rustic Overtones will perform Saturday, while other events that day include a parade and fireworks. Sunday’s schedule features comedian Bob Marley.
The festival will be wrapping up on Monday with a concert by the Portland Symphony Orchestra Quartet.
Scarborough was chartered in 1658 as part of Massachusetts. It has undergone plenty of changes over the years and is today an affluent Portland suburb that ranks as one of Maine’s largest towns.
