CANTON – Carolyn Matott has announced that an open house, yard sale and benefit supper will be held starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the old Canton School on Route 140, which is now a museum and art gallery.
Bell and pen souvenirs containing wood from the school, Canton history books, a raffle, a 50-50 drawing and more will be offered.
Artist George Ramos will give an American Indian presentation at 2:30 p.m. His art occupies two rooms in the school.
More than 100 paintings by Bill Paxton will be featured as well.
The museum will be open until a spaghetti supper is served from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m.
Sue Gammon, head of the Trail and Park Committee, says there will be a guided tour of the Whitney Brook Trail at 10 a.m. led by the committee members.
Immediately following the trail tour will be a guided tour of the park, which is on town property acquired after the flood buyout program.
According to Gammon, volunteers have for hours moving plants and trees from the yards of demolished houses to create a park of memories. Each of the trees and plants in the park are labeled as to where they came from. That tour will last until 12 noon.
