AUBURN – Police arrested a fourth suspect Thursday in connection with a home invasion last week in New Auburn.

Nicholas Taylor, 22, of Auburn was charged with attempted robbery and reckless conduct for his alleged role in breaking into an apartment July 10 at 25 South Main St., police said.

Taylor was held at Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.

Police suspect he is one of the people who went to the New Auburn apartment and fired at least four shots. No one was struck by a bullet and there were no reported injuries, police said.

One of the suspects, Yusuf Mohamoud, 18, of Lewiston was charged in the shooting shortly after it was reported. A 17-year-old male also was arrested at the scene. Police found an assault rifle in the teen’s car. Tyler Bryant, 20, of Auburn, was charged the next day with attempted robbery and reckless conduct.

The alleged victim of the robbery, Lawrence Coy, 39, was charged with cultivating marijuana after police searched his home and said they found evidence that pot was being grown.

The incident closed down a section of Third Street. Area residents gathered in the street, comparing notes on how many shots they heard.

A police officer on patrol in the area blocked the car of the suspects moments after the shots were fired, police said. The suspects then fled on foot.

One of the suspects, a juvenile, was identified by a neighbor shortly before police handcuffed him when he emerged from between two buildings. Mohamoud was rousted from one of the nearby buildings on South Main Street, police said.
