WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) – John Turturro has appeared in the Coen brothers’ “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and “Barton Fink” and Spike Lee films like “Do the Right Thing” and “Jungle Fever.” He’s written and directed his own movies including “Romance and Cigarettes.”

Against that backdrop, Turturro is currently working on a part written for him in the second “Transformers” movie, which is for kids.

“You don’t want to do the same thing all the time,” he told the Morning Sentinel newspaper. He described his upcoming part in the “Transformers” as “a fun role.”

The award-winning actor, writer, director and producer came to Waterville to receive Mid-Life Achievement Award at the Maine International Film Festival.

He improvised when asked what the Mid-Life Achievement Award means to him. His response Thursday night: “It means I’m getting old!”
