KINGFIELD – Family, friends and neighbors gathered Friday night on the lawn downtown to honor Ruth White, Mrs. Kingfield for 2008.

The ceremony was held as a prelude to the annual Kingfield Festival Days.

Emcee Jack McKee said of White, “She is one of those rare persons who is always positively positive.”

White was born in Dead River, one of 10 children. When her hometown became Flagstaff Lake she and her family moved to Kingfield. After marriage, White moved around a lot with her Army husband and six children, later returning to Kingfield once and for all.

McKee noted White’s dedication to her family and community, which is vast.

White herself admits, “I guess I’m involved in almost everything. I just really enjoy it and like to be busy.”

She stays busy and is involved in the American Legion and Auxiliary,

Senior Citizens, her church choir, the Franklin County and Kingfield Evening Extension clubs and community theater. She also enjoys hobbies such as gardening, quilting, knitting and crocheting.
